I am a college instructor, researcher, writer, editor, and Ph.D. in sociology and my writing and teaching focuses on racism, immigration, economics, citizenship, Asian American communities, Black-Asian relations, and minority and immigrant business. My work has been published in different academic journals and anthologies as well as in popular media outlets, including magazines, newsletters, on-line publications, and blogs. My writings have been translated into different languages, been debated in study groups and among activist organizations, and featured in theatrical work.
I have also worked in non-profits and as a small business consultant. I have activist experience in Asian American community development, immigrant rights, and counter-military recruitment. I have also organized many public sociology events dealing with Black-Asian relations, state violence, militarization, and Hurricane Katrina.
